		<description>I think you&#039;re right to hold off forming a set opinion of Bruce Sterling.  He&#039;s definitely opinionated and comes across as the techno-utopian as a first impression.  I wasn&#039;t convinced of his ideas and directions at first when I heard him speak in Torino last year (my write-up of the talk is on my blog at http://www.mcqn.net/mcfilter/archives//bruce_sterling_circolo_dei_lettori.html); however, I think there&#039;s a strong environmental streak running through him too.  I think his aim a bit off, but he is pointed in the right direction.

How are you finding the Well?  I&#039;ve wondered whether or not to join before now, but most of the time I&#039;ve heard it talked about it was for its influence in the early days of the Internet.  Is it still a vibrant community now?</description>
