Stimulated at The Groucho Club

June 11, 2008

Great meeting with a very stimulating new client (blog coaching / social entrepreneur) at The Groucho Club yesterday.

Walking into the toilets, it did cross my mind there might be risque types doing naughty things, even if it was 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon. As anyone that knows me well might agree, I do rather enjoy giving my imagination a fairly long leash.

How smirkful it then was to find two woman raving at each other like banshees (all entirely innocent I am sure) and the following sign on the mirror. Which, I might add, was firmly fixed to the wall.

Seems nowadays, you can’t even choke back a Marlboro Light on a Friday night without hitting the pavement. Oh how times have changed.

Can’t begin to imagine such a warning ever appearing in the loos at The RSA (our new ‘club’.)

No sign of Stephen Fry, but I did enjoy the utter individuality and eccentricity of nearly everyone I saw in Soho on that sunny, strollful day.

Not such a bad thing popping up to London.

Now who’s going to invite to Black’s? That sounds like the next (bohemian) stop on the tour. Maybe White’s one day? Maybe not. All rather hilarious and intriguing for an antipodean.

Power of You Tube meets Izzard

June 11, 2008

What must this 3 minute clip have done for Eddie Izzard! I loved him already, but after viewing and sharing this countless times, I have to wonder how Lego / Playmobile and other simple animation techniques could be used to create great, viral, social media. If you happen to have some genius talent lying around you can call on.

Enjoy!

If you one of the 4 million who have already viewed it and loved it.. enjoy all over again.

Here Comes Everybody

June 2, 2008

He talks as well as he writes. Here’s Clay Shirky talking at the RSA about the concepts behind his book, Here Comes Everybody. I haven’t read it all, but so far it is a well argued, consistent view of what online social networking, social media and mass content creation mean. And it ain’t a bunch of techno-utopian cheer leading either.

Slowly and gently we create the new

June 2, 2008

We’re in the middle of building a new web presence/website/blog combining the best of presencelabs and authentic blogging into one great blog to inform to world.

We start with concept of what we want to be, then comes a name, and then comes new site, logo, tagline, stakeholders, new architecture for the site/blog and then the endless technical configuration of it all from feeds to email to subscription options, taxonomy of categories, tags, redirects, SEO, plugins and widgets

Typically, it is taking longer than we thought. It might voodoo the whole process, but I’ll say we should have something to show this week in its imperfect still-in-beta form. And I’m writing about the process from the technical side. I want to get a sense of what totally is involved in the new site and just what it has taken to get there.

So, more on that soon. And if presencelabs.com turns into a redirect to something else soon, you’ll know why.
